Lucy Dorris Slaven

Lucy Myrtle Dorris Slaven, formerly of Charleston, MO, departed from this life to her heavenly home with the Lord, July 10, 2024, at the Beloved Care Assisted Living Center in Gilbert, AZ.

Lucy was born August 14, 1941, at Charleston, MO, to the late James and Rose Shankle Dorris and was of Pentecostal Faith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Vickie Lynn Sanders; her grandson, Dustinn Slaven; her brother, Allen Turner Dorris, Sr., and her sister, Sharon Rose Leal.

Surviving are her three sons, Michael (Kathy Kelly) Slaven; Ted (Joanna Jeralds) Slaven, Jr., and Cecil Slaven; her grandchildren, Aaron, Justin, Leland, Leo and Lawson and Nina Anne Slaven; four brothers, Wylie (Pat) Dorris, Larry Dorris, Garry (Stephanie) Dorris and Archie (Lynn) Dorris; four sisters, Shelby Holmes, Annie Staggs, Lola Bryars and Terry Dampier; also, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston. Everyone is invited to shared a special word with the family.

Immediately following the graveside service, the family will gather at the First Christian Church, 1006 North Main, Sikeston, MO.
