MARCELLE BARNBROOK VOWELS, age 93, a resident of Charleston died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

Born January 27, 1920 at Alfalfa Center in Mississippi County to the late Altus Edgar and Lora Prosser Barnbrook, she had lived her entire life in Mississippi County where she graduated from Charleston High School and was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.

On January 29, 1938 she married Clifford Eugene Vowels who preceded her in death on November 5, 1981.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters in law, Gary and Shirley Vowels of Charleston, Rick and Diana Vowels of Carmel, IN, and Father Timothy Vowels of Chesterfield; six grandchildren and three grandchildren in law, Daren and Kim Vowels, Scott and Melissa Vowels, Laura Brackett, Megan and Matt Smith, Nolan Vowels, Nathan Vowels; ten great grandchildren; one special nephew, Kenneth Vowels of Sikeston; and two special nieces, Carolyn Jo Ponder of Dallas, TX and Ann McCuiston of Charleston.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Clifford Hugh Vowels on November 2, 1990, one brother, Altus P. Barnbrook and one sister, Betty Ransom.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston followed by the Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. Her son, Father Timothy Vowels of Incarnate Word Catholic Church in Chesterfield, and Monsignor Richard Rolwing of Cape Girardeau, will serve as celebrants.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery north of Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home,

Pallbearers will be Daren Vowels, Scott Vowels, Nolan Vowels, Nathan Vowels, Matt Vowels, and Matt Smith.
