MARGARET ANN McMILLEN CATES, age 89, formerly of Charleston, died Monday, April 15, 2019, at the Hickory Manor in Licking, MO
Born June 3, 1929, in Tennessee, to the late Thomas Maxie McMillen and Maggie Ann Stagner McMillen, she had lived in Charleston most of her life until moving to be near her family. She had been employed with the Brown Shoe Company in Charleston until her retirement and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.
On March 13, 1947, she married James Earl Cates, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 12, 1995.
Surviving are her sons, James Earl (Evelyn) Cates, Jr., of Edgar Springs, MO and Lee (Debbie) Cates of Richwoods, MO; four grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Dustin Cates; her brothers, Oscar McMillen, Willie McMillen, Bob McMillen, Jethel McMillen, Grady McMillen, Tom McMillen, J.C. McMillen and James McMillen and her sisters, Lula Mae McMillen, Ruby Nell Finley, Geneva Vail, Edna Huey, Reva Switzer and Dorothy Patrick.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2019, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Mike McKinney, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
