Margaret Lynda Rush Oliver, 98, of Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
Margaret was born on December 21, 1915, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to the late Alvin Byrne Rush and Callie Amanda Bibb Rush. She lived most of her life in Mississippi County, where she was a member of the Charleston United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and PEO Chapter CV. Margaret was a gracious, kind woman whose greatest legacy was her family.
On October 11, 1936, she married Howard Dearmont Oliver, who preceded her in death on September 12, 1984.
Survivors include five sons, one daughter, and one son-in-law: Homer Dearmont Oliver and wife Rosemary, Samuel Rush Oliver, and Clyda Sue and husband John W. L. Goodin, all of Charleston; L.F. LaPlant, David Rodney Oliver and wife Linda, Joe Hunter Oliver and wife Sandra, of East Prairie; Ted Emerson Oliver and wife Shirley, of Spring, Texas; 26 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Charles Gunter Oliver, daughter Margaret Rosalie Oliver LaPlant, uncle John Oscar Bibb, brother Homer Lucas Rush, daughter-in-law Peggy Alcorn Oliver, grandson Homer Dearmont "Dee" Oliver, Jr., and her granddaughters husband, Jeffrey Wayne Farmer.
Visitation in honor of Margaret Lynda Rush Oliver will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, with services directly following at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend David Collum, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Private burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
