MARGARET ELIZABETH CROSNO SHEW, Age 92, formerly of Wyatt, died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.
Born January 12, 1919, on the Crosno Family Farm near Canalou, Missouri, to the late John Henry and Callie Hall Crosno, she had lived most of her life in Wyatt where she was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Wyatt and served as the pianist and organist a number of years. At the closing of the Wyatt church, she became a member of the United Methodist Church of Charleston. A graduate of the SEMO Teachers College, now Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, she taught elementary school for over 41 years until her retirement and was an active member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association.
On May 20, 1949, she married Orval Eldridge Shew, who preceded her in death on November 26, 2006.
Surviving are her nephews and nieces, Judy and Jerry Borgmann of Hollister, MO; John Cook of Hot Springs, AR; Ray Presson and Roy and Melinda Presson all of Charleston; Ann and Roy J. Stocking of Rockford, AL; Donna and Jim Acreback of Arlington, TN and Janet Shew of Kingston Springs, TN; also a number of great nephews and nieces.
One nephew, Alan Shew, two brothers, Charles Crosno and Russell Crosno and two sisters, Elsie Sells and Mildred Cook all preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Charleston. Rev. Dan Faust, pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Mark Dugan, Jack Moxley, Joe Sevic, Chris Shew, Jamie Conn and Emmett Burke.
