Marilyn Joyce Knupp Glenn of Charleston, MO, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 7, 2022. She died peacefully surrounded by her family at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Marilyn was born at home on December 30, 1936, to the late Curtis H. and Amy E. Emory Knupp. Marilyn grew up in Anniston, MO, as part of a loving family. She graduated from Anniston High School in 1955. Marilyn went on to work at Wigdors Department Store straight out of high school. February 1, 1957, she married the love of her life. A farmer by the name of Thomas Joseph Glenn of Charleston. 1960, Marilyn started her extensive career at Mississippi County Savings and Loan where she worked up to become the Managing Director. Marilyn loved her job so much she did not leave until her retirement in 2006. She was an active member at New Bethel Baptist Church where she served as the pianist for the biggest duration of her adult life and served as the church secretary. She was a member of the WMU (Woman's Missionary Union) group. She was instrumental in helping to bring the Rural Water District to Mississippi County. She served on the Rural Fire Board. After retiring, she went on to be a member on the Mississippi County Savings and Loan board.
She enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends, traveling until health complications in 2005, cooking for loved ones, and was an avid Cardinal fan, but more than anything else she loved to spoil her grandchildren. She spent all her life taking care of others and placing them before herself. Marilyn was a faithful servant of the Lord.
Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Kevin Glenn (Catrina Woodworth) of Charleston, MO, and Scott (Deena) Glenn of Charleston, MO. Seven Grandchildren – Caitlin (Ross) Halley of St. Louis; Caroline (TJ) Hagan of Cape Girardeau; Conner Penzel of Cape Girardeau; Carrinn Glenn of Monroe, LA; Lillian Glenn of Cape Girardeau; Emory and Lettie-Collins Glenn of Charleston. She is also survived by her brother, Charles (Phyllis) Knupp of St. Louis; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews; and many family and friends.
In addition to her father and mother, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Glenn; brother, Donald Knupp; and sister, Myrna Knupp Little.
Family viewing will be Friday at 10:00 am, February 11, 2022, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The family will then receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm.
Brother Ted Wimberly will be officiating.
Pallbearers: Chris Blaylock, Daryle Caid, Mike Little, Johnny Shoffner, Terry Shoffner, and Todd Palmer
Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
In lieu of flowers, it was Marilyn's wishes that donations be made to New Bethel Baptist Church 731 N. 407 th Road, Charleston, MO 63834
