Marilyn Johnson Lawrence, age 71, entered into Heaven's reward, Saturday, January 8, 2022, surrounded by her family, at her home in Charleston, Missouri.

She was born August 27, 1950, to the late Walter Jones and Odessa Johnson. She was born and raised in Charleston, MO, and made her living chopping beans and working at the Charleston Housing Authority for over 20 years.

She turned her life over to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of the Opportunity Church of God in Christ. Marilyn was very family oriented and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She really enjoyed playing cards and listening to R. Kelly. Cooking was her specialty; everyone knew they were going to get a good meal if they went to her house.

On April 7, 1978, she married the love of her life, Clarence Lawrence, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are her children, Veronica (William) Johnson Jefferson, Marsuanne (Ricky) Johnson, Parish Craig, Gina (Bernard) Betts, Garyion Johnson, Antonio Johnson, Devonte' Johnson, Chanelle Johnson and Angela Wheeler Sharp; her siblings, Greg Johnson, Roy Lee Johnson, Iona Johnson, Vanessa (Henry) Davis, Bobby Johnson and Rodney Johnson, Sr.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Craig; one daughter, Marquita Williams; four brothers, George Johnson, Jerome Marshall, Jimmy Lee Johnson and Elmer Johnson; and one sister, Rozella Peterson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral services at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston. Pastor Arthur Cassell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, MO under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
