Obituary

Marjorie Ann "Margie" Ferrell Jones, passed away peacefully from this life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.   She was 87 years old.

Born December 12, 1937, in Charleston, MO, to the late Delmar Hughes Ferrell and Dona Brooks Ferrell, until her departure, she was the oldest grandchild of the Ercy Earl Ferrell and Mary Velda Alley Ferrell family.

Margie graduated from Charleston High School in 1955. While in High School she was active in Glee Club, Blue Blazers, the annual talent show contest, Future Homemakers of America and was first runner up in the Scott/Mississippi County Milk Maid Contest.  After graduation, Margie enrolled in Cape College Beauty School along with three of her close friends.

Following her graduation from beauty school, Margie's dream was to own and operate her own beauty salon. That dream came true when she opened her own salon located behind the Friedman Clothing Store in downtown Charleston.  This shop was completely decorated in her favorite color- pink.

She quickly outgrew this location and moved her business to Court Street across from the Mississippi County Courthouse and employed two more hairstylists. She remained there for several years until her father purchased the old Mississippi County Savings and Loan building on Commercial Street. Margie remained at this location until she retired in 2007.  After a career of 50 years in cosmetology, she still had a love for making others look their best as she continued styling hair for the residents at the Charleston Manor and Bertrand Skilled Nursing facilities for several more years.

Margie always claimed her hairstyles made one feel like a movie star and one day that claim was made true as Gene Corman, producer of the movie "The Intruder" contacted her to style and give final touches to actress Jeanne Cooper who was starring in this picture that was being filmed in Charleston and Sikeston.

On August 7, 1959, in St. Louis, MO, Margie married Vernon Lee "Bud" Jones.  They were blessed with 48 years together.   Margie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Fred Ferrell.

Margie is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Nace (Bill) of Sikeston; her granddaughter, Caroline Brooks Nace Littleton (Justin) of Sikeston; her great granddaughter, Grace Tyler Littleton of Sikeston; her sister, Pam Ferrell of Charleston; nephew, Britton Hughes Ferrell (Anna) of Charleston; niece, Brooks Ferrell Yoviene (Jonathan) of Kirkwood; great nephews, William Hughes Ferrell (Lexi) and Ferrell Yoviene; great nieces, Elise T. Ferrell, Anna Riley Yoviene Seigel (Jake) and Laurel Yoviene; also several cousins.
