Martha Jean Finley Shankle, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, August 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 31, 1942, at Wyatt, MO, to the late Tom Finley and Ruby Nell McMillen Finley, she had lived in Charleston most of her life and attended the First Christian Church.   For 23 years, she was employed at Burkhart Foam Company in Cairo, Il.   Martha then became employed as a dietician at Missouri Delta Medical Center and later at the Charleston Manor Nursing Home until her retirement.

On December 5, 1958, she married Bill Shankle, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are her children, Tommy (Jeanine) Shankle, Kenneth (Sheila) Shankle and Kathy (Robert) Renaud all of Charleston and Jamie (Pam) Shankle of Sikeston; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, James, Donnie, Rita, Gloria and Patricia as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Garrett Joseph Shankle, an infant sister, as well as her brothers and sisters, Troy Smith, Bobby, Billy, Jo Ann, Debbie, and Linda.

A private family service will be held at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Rev. Joe Mooney, pastor of the First Christian Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
