MARTHA LEE CRISS WHITE, age 92, a resident of Charleston, died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the Charleston Manor.
Born April 28, 1926, in the Henson Community of Mississippi County, MO, to the late Roy and Prussia King Criss. She was a 1943 graduate of Charleston High School and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church since 1944. Having been employed by Mississippi County, she worked in the Assessor's office and the County Collector's office for a total of 13 years. In 1964, she went in business as White Tax and Accounting Service and operated that for 38 years until her retirement. She was an avid golfer, camper, bowler and loved to fish.
On May 2, 1944, in a ceremony performed by Father J.R. Weiberg, she married R. David White, at St. Henry Church in Charleston. David preceded her in death in on February 18, 2010.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Ellen Tebbe; three grandchildren, Tina (Ken) Warhover, David A. (Sara) Bley and John B. (Sarah) Bley; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son in law, Gary L. Tebbe; her brother, Earl D. Criss and her sister, Ethel Criss Goddard.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time for parish prayers at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2018, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018, at St. Henry Catholic Church with Rev. David Dohogne, as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Jackie Whiteside, Leo Schott, Robert Earl Criss, David Bley, John Bley and Ken Warhover.
