Obituary

MARVIN E. FLUEGGE, Age 92, a resident of Charleston, died Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 7, 1923, at Tilsit, MO, to the late William and Anna Best Fluegge, he moved to the Lusk Community in Scott County at the age of 15 after his parents died. He enlisted in the United States Army where he obtained the rank of corporal. Having served in the European theatre, he was assigned to Patton's 3rd Army, going all the way to Berlin. A skilled mechanic, he worked at McDonald Douglas, John Deere and Catepillar prior to opening his mechanic shop, Fluegge and Giltz Shop in Charleston, which he operated 20 years until 1977. In 1965, he began farming at Lusk, and continued until his death.

A member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, he also served on the Charleston Farm Bureau Board. Marvin enjoyed his friends and family, having fun and was always ready for an adventure.

After the war, he married Rosa Lee Martin on June 12, 1949, at Lusk Chapel, and she survives of the home of Charleston.

Also surviving is one son and daughter in law, Robert and Irene Fluegge of Jefferson City, MO; two daughters and sons in law, Carolyn and David Evans of White Bluff, TN and Sharon and Larry Collins of Lusk; one grandson, Luke (Lyndsay) Simmons of Cincinnati, OH; two granddaughters, Amy (Neal) Thompson of Ankeny, IA and Jessica Fluegge of Columbia, MO; four great grandchildren, Wren Simmons, Olivia Thompson, Appie Thompson and Amielia Fluegge.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in by one brother, Albert Fluegge and three sisters, Alma Birk, Lydia Sievers and Elda Horton.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m., until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2015, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Pastor A.J. Wollenburg, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston with military graveside rites provided by the U.S. Army and the Missouri Military Honors Program.

Pallbearers will be: Larry Collins, Luke Simmons, Neal Thompson, Gary Pang, Alex Buchheit, Tyler Buchheit and Matthew Weavers.
