MARY ELLEN HARRIS JOHNSON, Age 87, a resident of Sikeston, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Born May 23, 1923, in Ridgley, TN, to the late Will and Alline Howell Harris, she had lived in Charleston most of her life until moving to Sikeston in 1972. She had been employed with the Brown Shoe Company at Charleston for over 20 years and then the Foster Grandparent Program in Sikeston for 22 years before retiring.
On September 23, 1939, she married Harold D. Johnson who preceded her in death on April 18, 1972.
Surviving are: two daughters, Pat Blackburn of House Springs, MO and Sue Orzech of Sikeston, MO; one step daughter, Vicki Hammon of Sikeston; three brothers, Frank Harris of Flint, MI; James Harris of Sikeston and Bob Harris of Bertrand; three grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 28, 2010, from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
