Obituary

Mary Dean Fort, 64, of Haywood City, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born Sept. 19, 1949 in Sardis, Mississippi to Annie R. (Salter) Fort who survives of the home and the late Jimmie Fort. A resident of this area most of her life, she had worked at the Community Sheltered Workshop and was a member of New Morning Star Baptist Church at Haywood City. Besides her mother, she is survived by 4 brothers, James Fort of St. Louis, Henry Fort and John Fort both of Haywood City and Willie Fort of Columbus, Ohio; 3 sisters, Stella Richardson of St. Louis and Edna Stevens and Penny Banks both of Haywood City. 2 aunts, Bessie Turner and Clara Jones and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Maney. Visitation will be at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Haywood City from 11:00 am Saturday, Dec 7 until time for services at 12 noon.
Rev. Alex Sims, the pastor and Rev. David Craig, pastor of the Life Church of Sikeston will officiate. Burial will follow at the Haywood City Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Active pallbearers will be Fred Banks, Roger Banks, III, Mose Daniel, Mikey Daniel, Tyrell Banks, Ronnie Fort and Tyus Banks. Honorary pallbearers will be her brothers, James, Henry, John and Willie and her brother-in-law, Roger Banks, Jr. Repast will follow at Scott County Central School.
