Obituary

MARY CORINTHIA CHILDERS HAMILTON, 84, died Thursday, September 26, 2019, at her home in Sikeston.

Born January 11, 1935, at Wolf Island, MO, to the late Eddie Leon Childers and Joyce Valentine Collins Childers, she had lived in Bernie a number of years where she taught Head Start at Bernie Schools. Known to everyone as "Memaw", she did baby sitting and ironing, and was especially known for her famous potato salad and chicken and dressing.

She was married to Marvin Hamilton who preceded her in death September 29, 1987.

Surviving are her children, Tammy Newman of Sikeston; Mark and Sabrina Newman of Sikeston; Melinda and Kelly Heaton of Sikeston and Todd and Pam Hamilton of Bonne Terre; her brother, Jerry Childers of Chaffee; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Dustan Heaton; her brothers, Paul Childers, Wayne Childers, Timothy Childers, Mike Childers and Billy Childers and her sisters, Sue Husk, Erma Dean Childers and Betty Edsall.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. J. Robert Webster, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Landon Newman, Blake Newman, Zachary Brooks, Austin Campbell, Dylan Heaton and Ryan Hamilton, grandson in law, Nathan Huffman and dear family friend, Cory Bess.
