Mary Thompson Marshall Whitehead, age 73, peacefully passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at her home in Charleston.
She was born on February 9, 1951, in Paducah, Kentucky to the late Jacqueline Webb Graham and Edgar Calvin Marshall Jr. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1969. Miss Marshall married Keith DeLane Whitehead on August 15, 1976.
Mary T (Sweet T, as she was known by her grandkids) loved to cook, travel, and spend time with friends and family. She was interested in genealogy and active in Republican politics. God led her to Elm Street Baptist Church where she served with the Wednesday night bus ministry and Pray Without Ceasing women's bible study.
She is survived by her four children Graham and Ann Hunter Whitehead of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Mary Thompson Whitehead of Dickson, Tennessee, Jacqueline and Bleve Willoughby and Rabb and Kelly Whitehead all of Charleston, Missouri. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren Sarah Dabney Whitehead, Miles Hunter Whitehead and Wade Chapman Whitehead of Hattiesburg, Mississippi: Bleve Thompson Willoughby, Graham Chambers Willoughby and Mary Louise Willoughby, Lewis McCabe Whitehead, Henry Marshall Whitehead, Charles Revelle Whitehead, and Edward Graham Whitehead all of Charleston, Missouri.
Also surviving are 3 brothers and 3 sisters: Sarah Marshall Hines (Ed) of Brewton, Alabama, Edgar C. Marshall III of Charleston, Lucia Hillenmeyer of Franklin, Tennessee, Madeline Marshall Haynie (Bill) of Shreveport, Louisiana, James Marshall (Denise) of Cape Girardeau and Karl Marshall of Charleston.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one infant sister, Laura Champion Marshall.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral following at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Elm Street Baptist Church in Charleston. Jon Archie, pastor, will officiate.
Graveside service will follow in the I.O.O.F. cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
