Obituary
MARY ELIZABETH CARR SHRUM, Age 87, a resident of Charleston, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 31, 1929, at Bertrand, MO, to Ralph Carr, Sr. and Geneva Murphy Carr, she had lived in Charleston most of her life where she was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and served as a RSVP volunteer.
Surviving are her children, John H. Shrum of Virginia Beach, VA, Robert L. Shrum of Puyallup WA, Joseph J. Shrum of Grover Beach, CA, and Teresa Kay Escott of St. Robert; also 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Shrum; two granddaughters, Ashley Shrum and Heather Escott; one brother Ralph Carr, Jr.; two sisters, Mea Butler and Patricia Evans.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 pm at which time Prayers will be recited.
Private family graveside rites and interment will be conducted at the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
