Obituary

MARY E. SIMPKINS, Age 78, a resident of Charleston, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born October 19, 1934, at Anniston, MO, to the late Lindsey Garner Baker, Sr. and Opha Mae Kennedy Baker, she had lived in Charleston most of her life and was employed in the bookkeeping department of Focus Bank for over 50 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bertrand.

On January 31, 1955, she married Johnny Simpkins, who preceded her in death February 22, 2003.

Surviving is two daughters, Melody Rankin of Sikeston and Pam Jackovic of Starkville, MS; one brother, Alfred Baker of Marion, IL; two sisters, Rita Walker of Streetman, TX; Hazel Lee of Waxahachie, TX and Bobbie Cortiva of St. Louis; 6 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lindsey Baker, Jr., Willis Baker and Arnold Baker and four sisters, Helen Maxey, Susie Cunningham, Ruth Robinson and Alice Modica.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon (12:00 p.m.), Thursday, February 14, 2013. Cody Aldrich, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bertrand, will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
