MARY B. WILLIFORD, Age 91, a resident of Bardwell, KY and formerly of Charleston, MO, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Countryside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bardwell.
Born January 1, 1922, in Mississippi County, MO, to the late Cecil and Nellie Forsythe Kidd, she had lived in Charleston most her life where she was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church. Well known in Mississippi County, she had been employed at Anderson General Store in Pinhook, operated the store at Birds Point and the Bait Shop on Main Street in Charleston. A skilled seamstress, she was employed at the Buckner Ragsdale Store at Charleston in the alteration department and managed The Bargain Store. She also operated her own alteration shop from her home for many years. Never retiring, she continued to sew for friends and neighbors well into her 70's and 80's. She was also employed as a caregiver for several families. In 2002, she suffered a stroke forcing her to retire. Moving to Bardwell in 1991, she was a member of the Mississippi Baptist Church and had been a resident at the Countryside Care Center since 2009, where she fell asleep in death with loved ones at her side.
She was first married to Johnny Woodruff and later to Vernon W. Williford who both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were four brothers, two sisters, an infant son, Stanley Ray Williford and two great grandchildren.
Surviving are: three sons, Roy Woodruff of Bridgeport, TX; Tom (Sandy) Woodruff of Bardwell, KY and Winston (Pam) Williford of Cape Girardeau, MO; two daughters, Phyllis Woodruff Wright of Barlow, KY and Cynthia Nell Woodruff Moser of Big Sandy, TN; one sister, Garnett Hinch of Ballwin, MO; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; also, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Mark Burnett, pastor of the Mississippi Baptist Church at Bardwell, Ky.,and her son, Winston Williford, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
