Obituary
MARY DORIS ZOELLNER, age 90, a resident of Charleston died at 8:10 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Charleston Manor.
Born June 5, 1920, in the Henson Community of Mississippi County, Missouri, to the late Joseph Patrick and Berry Ringo Winger, she had lived in Charleston most of her life where she was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church. A 1936 graduate of Columbus High School in Columbus, KY, she pursued a Bachelor Degree and later a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau. She taught seven years at the Scott County R-4 School (Kelly) in Benton and retired from teaching after 31 years with the Charleston R-1 School District. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association.
October 20, 1945, she married Delbert J. Zoellner, who preceded her in death May 9, 1997.
She leaves behind "her precious half dozen"; her sons and their wives, Mike and Diann Zoellner of Cape Girardeau; Martin and Jeannie of Wildwood, Missouri; daughters, Rosy and Stephen Earl of Cape Girardeau; Suzanne Z. and Frank Lee of Charleston; Beth Dill of Huntsville, AL; Sarah J. Turnbow of Oak Ridge, MO; one sister, Ruth M. Pierceall of Charleston; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren who she loved dearly.
Preceding her in death were two brothers George Frederick Winger and Robert C. "Jim Bob" Winger and one sister, Jo Ellen Winger Black.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston.
Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Jason Lee, Tyler Zoellner, David Brewer, Dennis Pierceall, Charles Moxley and Richard Hutcheson.
