Obituary

MAUREEN CATHERINE McCARTHY CARMAN, Age 70, a resident of Charleston, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Charleston Manor.

Born January 6, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Vincent and Kathryn Bennett McCarthy, she graduated from Ritenour High School in Overland, MO and continued her education at the Barnes Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1962. She was employed for 13 years at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO where she served as a secretary for 10 years, as an Academic Advisor and later was the Advising Coordinator of the Harrison College of Business. She retired in 2000 and continued to volunteer as the secretary of the Newman Center at Southeast Missouri State University. She later worked as a part-time secretary at the St. Henry Catholic School in Charleston and was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church also in Charleston.

On October 20, 1962, she married Ernest Carman, who survives of Charleston.

Also surviving are: one son and daughter –in- law, Bill and Lana Carman of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Lisa Stallings of Charleston; six grandchildren, Stephen Carman, David Carman and Troy Carman, all of Cape Girardeau and Catherine Stallings, Mollina Stallings and Frank Stallings all of Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jeff Stallings.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the McMikle Funeral Home where parish prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012 at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. Monsignor Richard Rolwing of Cape Girardeau and Father Patrick Ike Nwokoye, Campus Minister of the Newman Center in Cape Girardeau, will con-celebrate.

Interment will follow in the Texas Bend Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Anthony Ohmes, David Carman, John Carman, Robert Carman, Tim Harvell and Joe Dark.
