MEGAN RAE CHANEY, age 20, a resident of East Prairie, died Sunday, October 20, 2019.

Born December 14, 1998, in Scott County, Missouri, she was raised by Danny and Cindy Kersey Bright as their own. Living in East Prairie all her life, she was a 2017 graduate of East Prairie High School. She played as catcher for the girls softball team and as a guard for the girls high school basketball team. Known for her aggressiveness on the basketball court, she earned the title of "professional fouler" for her ability to get technical fouls. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in East Prairie. Her biological parents were Kelli Stoner who survives of Delta and the late Pete Chaney.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her brothers, Danny (Megan) Bright, Jr. and Ronny Chaney of East Prairie; sisters, Hollie Stoner of Cape Girardeau; Leslie (Teddy) Moreland and Heather Chaney of East Prairie; uncles, Lee Bright, Jeff Bright and Billy Kersey all of East Prairie; her aunt, Carla Sickel of Chesterfield, MO; nephews, Gavohn Achter of Matthews, Gabe Achter and Trey Bright of East Prairie; nieces, Gracie Garrett, Chanie Moreland, Ryder Moreland, Ava Bright, Mary Sue Bright all of East Prairie and Terri Rene Siggers and Charlie Rae Siggers both of Marble Hill; great nephew, Ketch Harrison Garrett of East Prairie; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Besides her birth father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Lair; her grandparents, Joe and Sue Bright, Orval and Mae Kersey, Charles and Karen Maxwell and Carl and Birdie Chaney.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2019. Martin Lucas of East Prairie, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Dylan Brown, Chandler Thomas, Chad Housman, TJ Shands, Matt Henry and Cooper Phillips.

Special Pallbearer will be Mr. Ray Dorris.
