Obituary

An angel, Melba Imogene Householder, 85, of Blodgett was called home to be with her heavenly father on September 15, 2016, where she was finally reunited in the arms of her loving husband, Sonny. When God made Melba, he broke the mold. She truly was one of a kind; all you had to do was ask her. She was full of love for her family and friends, quick-witted and full of life. You could always find her working at the church or cooking up a storm. She loved to laugh and could dish it out as well as she could take it. Melba was born March 18, 1931 in Los Angeles, California, to Roy Otis and Hettie Mae (Reynolds) Turner. She married Royce Pernell "Sonny" Householder, Sept. 9, 1948 in Morley. He preceded her in death December 23, 1995. She had worked at Hab-Care Home Health, and sold Rainbow Vacuums, Amway, and cemetery plots to name a few over the years. Melba was a member of Blodgett Baptist Church for 68 years and taught Sunday School every Sunday for the 65 years. When Melba wasn't at work she spent many hours in her own kitchen where she loved to cook. Her family and friends would frequently request her chicken and dumplings, pineapple upside-down cake, pecan pies, homemade biscuits, and made from scratch banana nugget cookies, which her grandkids attest can never be duplicated. Loving survivors include her children, who were her pride and joy, Robert Jeffery (Diana) Householder of Benton and Kenneth Roy (Becky) Householder of Sikeston. She was grandma Melba to ten grandkids that she thought the world of, and who thought she hung the moon and ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild whom she absolutely adored and who brought so much joy into her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Mary Francis Aduddell of North Carolina. Also, her granddaughter, Hope Householder, her grandson, Jeffery Shane Householder, whom she raised until he lost his battle with Cerebral Palsy, and her lifelong friend, Thelma Gates. Friends may call from 5 until 8 pm Friday at Blanchard Funereal Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday in the chapel with Rev. Allen Nichols, pastor of Lilbourn Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery in Morley. Those who get the honor of being pallbearers are Kent Householder, Kaine Householder, Kyle Householder, Zachary Hahs, Landon Hahs, Cody VanPool, Alex Householder and Tucker Miller. Honorary pallbearers are: Taylor VanPool and Halle Swallows. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kenny Rogers Children's Center in Sikeston.
