Melody Ann Herring Lyell was born February 8, 1972, in Richmond, Virginia to Walter and Judith Nunnelee Herring. She passed away October 25, 2025, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Melody was kind and had a big heart for people. She would help anyone if she could. She was a mother hen, helping raise John, her brother, when she was allowed. A teacher once told Melody's mother that she was one of the calmest and most composed students that they had ever had.

Besides her mother and stepfather Jim Leigh, she is also survived by her son, Duane Austin Lyell of Sikeston, MO. Many aunts and uncles including Barbara Leigh, Sue Leigh, Skip and Nancy Leigh, Rod and Sharon Nunnelee, Gene and Marie Lucille Nunnelee, Vondine Lowe, cousins Mike Lowe, Tom and Alice Nunnelee, Cheryl Oglesby, Barbara Connella, Robert Whitfield Jr., Gena Nunnelee Ross, Priscilla Nunnelee Carpenter, Diane Nunnelee Showmaker, Angela and Dennis Dylla, Beverly and John Graham and Lori and Ben Gallegos.

Preceding her in death were her father, Walter Herring, her brother, Jonathon Walter Herring, maternal grandparents John and Myrtle Nunnelee, her paternal grandmother Mattie Jane McSwain, aunts and uncles, Ann and Robert Whitfield, Robert Lowe, Lonnie Herring, and cousins Edward Nunnelee and Darlene Olive.

Visitation will be Tuesday November 18 starting at 9:00 am, until time of service at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 1101 North Main, in Sikeston. Brother Glen Cantrell will officiate the service.
