Melvin Dewayne Burney

Melvin DeWayne Burney, age 61, died Monday, February 13, 2023, at his home in East Prairie.

Born July 17, 1961, at Wyatt, MO, to the late Charlie Burney and Martha Evelyn Hall Burney, he had lived in East Prairie most of his life.

Surviving is his spouse of 22 years, Janet F. Jackson, of East Prairie; his brothers, Brian (Red) Burney and Charlie (Mary) Burney and his sister, Janie (Lenny) Jernigan; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia "Sissy" Chance and his brother, James Dwight "Duke" Burney.

At Melvins request, no services will be held.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
