MICHAEL DENNIS 'MIKE' PULLEN, Age 61, a resident of Charleston, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born August 31, 1949, at Wyatt, Missouri, to the late Lee O. Pullen and Lenora Irene Milner Bailey, he had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was active for many years as an umpire for the Charleston Little League Baseball program. An avid pool player, he also enjoyed singing karaoke and having a good time with his many friends. The loves of his life were his grandchildren and each summer he was anxious to make sure his pool was ready for them to come and swim. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
On July 26, 1969, he married Sheila G. Marshall, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: three sons and daughters in law, Matt and Christy Pullen of Charleston; Scott and Nicole Pullen of Scott City and Derrick and Stephanie Pullen of Sikeston; five brothers, Paul Bailey of Hale, MI; Stephen Bailey of East Prairie; Tim New of Charleston; Terry New of Desoto, MO and Larry New of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Talicha Stephens of Wyatt; six grandchildren, Dustin Pullen, Jacob Pullen, Lauren Pullen, Leah Pullen, Makenzie Pullen and Marshall Pullen.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2011. Rev. Michael Brewer, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home. Full Military honors will be provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
