Obituary

MICHAEL DEWAYNE SHRIVER, age 53, died on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at his residence in St. Louis.

He was born December 5, 1961 in Quantico, VA to the Mary Joyce Thomas Shriver who survives of House Springs and the late Charles Leon Shriver. He enlisted in the US Army in 1980 after his graduation from Northwest High School in House Springs. Completing his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, he served with the 82nd Airborne as a Combat Medic Paratrooper stationed at Fort Bragg, NC and later in Germany. A recipient of several medals and commendations, he was discharged in 1992 following his service in Iraq during Desert Storm. Upon his return to the states, he moved to St. Louis where he worked as retail manager with Baisch Skinner Wholesale Florist and then later with LaSalle Wholesale Florist until his retirement.


On November 7, 2014 he married his life partner of 20 years, Michael D. Griggs who survives of the home.

Surviving in addition to his mother and spouse are three brothers and one sister, Daniel Shriver of Millersville, Donald Shriver of Richwoods, one sister, Ellen Darlene (Alan) Frost of Luebbring and Charles Darrin (Jamie) Shriver of St. Clair; two children, Julie Locke of Scott City and Lee Michael (Danielle) Griggs of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Dylan and Emma Locke of Scott City and Carson Lee and Brystol Grace Griggs of Sikeston; three nephews, Michael Frost, Jonathan Frost and Andrew Shriver; one niece, Nikki Frost; and his two beloved dogs, Trevor and Bailey.


Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until Funeral Hour at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Charles Darrin Shriver, his brother, of St. Clair will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Frost, Michael Frost, Daniel Shriver, Jake Wycoff, Scott Brink, and Steven Griggs.

Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Missouri Military Honor Guard at the Smith-Griggs Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction McMikle Funeral Home.
