Obituary

It is with deep sadness and profound sorrow that the family of Michael W Ziegenhorn announce his unexpected and sudden passing on Friday, July 30, 2021 at the age of 64.

Mike will be remembered by his loving wife Susie Bahova-Ziegenhorn of the home, his mother, Barbara Ziegenhorn of Sikeston, his sister, Patty J. Ziegenhorn and Michael Whigham of Dublin, GA and his aunt, Patricia Cerny, of Webster Groves.

He is survived by first cousins,  David (Sue) Ziegenhorn,  Dennis (Karen) Ziegenhorn, Donald (Marion) Pratt, Charles (Sue) Pratt, Harry (Vickie) Pratt all of Sikeston, Cindy Waldron of Jacksonville, Florida, Kim (Jay) Divine and Tim ( Jan) Cerny all of St. Louis.

Mike was predeceased by his father, Keith L. Ziegenhorn; his paternal grandparents, Charles G. and Minnie  Ziegenhorn and maternal grandparents, Walter and Cleo Letsinger.

Mike was a 1976 graduate of Sikeston High School. He actively participated in Varsity Basketball, Track and the Bleacher Bums. He was of Methodist faith.

In his early career he was actively engaged in the family construction business that developed Ridgeview Subdivision by building the first few homes and duplexes.

Mike was an active owner of Z&Z rentals, Mike's Steam Cleaning since he was 18 years old. He became interested in Urban agriculture and started purchasing empty lots from the City of Sikeston to plant Apple and Peach Orchards. He has been active in this pursuit for the last 10 years and could be seen daily by neighbors tending his trees. Additionally, he had an active interest in Beekeeping with several colonies in his backyard and on rural property. He loved the City of Sikeston and served for many years on boards that included the Park Board and Planning/Zoning Committee. He was a former member of the Sikeston Jaycees. Mike was the happiest being outside and observing nature . He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing and skeet shooting.

Mike is best known for his beautiful auburn red hair, his big smile, and intensely hard work ethic.

His family with respect to the Covid Virus will have a private, graveside service with interment at the Garden of Memories Cemetery on Friday, August 6, 2021. Jennifer Moxley, Associate Pastor of the Sikeston United Methodist Church will officiate.

Services are under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
