Michael Patrick "Mike" Keller, age 69, of East Prairie, died Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.
Born August 21, 1955, at St. Louis, MO, to the late William Raymond Keller and Margaret Murphy Shull, he had lived in East Prairie since 1989. Mike was a hardworking man and always willing to help others. He was first employed as a commercial truck driver and then decided he needed to be off the road to help care for his young family. Mike attended the law academy at SEMO in Cape Girardeau and went on to graduate with the credentials to become a public safety officer. Mike became employed with the East Prairie Police Department and worked there several years serving a community he loved. He then went to work at the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department and then returned to the East Prairie Police Department where he obtained the rank of sergeant and remained there a number of years. He would later become the Assistant Fire Chief for East Prairie before his retirement. He returned to over the road truck driving and worked in that field until ill health forced his retirement.
Mike was a proud Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Marines having served from 1972 to 1975, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a lifetime member of the V.W.F.
On May 23, 1998, he married Charlotte Corrine Gentles Keller, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his children, Phillip Paul (Kat) Keller of Sikeston, Jason William Keller of Wood River, IL, Brandi (Logan) White and Corrina (Jim) Husk both of Matthews, and Don Adam (Wendy) Husk of Dexter; three bonus sons, Anthony (Stephanie) Mansfield of Carbondale, IL, Robert (Alishia) Douglas of Gosnell, AR and Sammy Chisenall of Pennsylvania; 30 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Ervin (Paula) Shull Meridian, MS, Ora Sidney (Kristen) Shull, Jr. Columbia, TN, Barbara Johnson Of East Prairie, Cecelia (Carl) Crawford of Clarksville, TN, Peggy Shull of East Prairie and Twila (John) Cox of Alaska; also a number nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather who raised him, Ora Sidney Shull, Sr., two grandchildren, Ruben James Husk and Hope Elizabeth Pauline Husk; two bonus sons, Matt Dickerson and Jeff Eye and his brother-in-law, Ted Johnson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 31, 2025.
Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, MO with full military honors.
