MILDRED ALVEY COOTS , age 85, a resident of Bertrand, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born January 31, 1924 in Mississippi County to the late Oscar and Ida Frances Stowe Alvey. She had lived in Mississippi County her entire life where she was a graduate of St. Henry Catholic High School, and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. She had attended the Dogwood United Methodist Church and most recently attended Abundant Grace Church in Bertrand.

On September 23, 1946 she married Carlyle Theron "C.T." Coots who preceded her in death on February 5, 1995.

Surviving are one son and daughter in law, DeWayne and Sharon Coots of Bertrand; one daughter and son in law, Deborah and Mike Dugan of Pensacola, FL; one brother, Gene Alvey of Park Hills; one sister, Hazel Poulter of Park Hills; and five grandchildren, Kem Coots of Marmaduke, AR, Keith (Melissa) Coots of Charleston, Katie (Frankie) Tubbs of McKenzie, TN and Shawn Dugan and Jason (Tammy) Dugan both of Kansas City; also 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

One sister, Blanche Holifield, and four brothers, Delbert Alvey, James Alvey, Ray Alvey, and Destus Alvey, preceded her in death.

Funeral Services were conducted in the McMikle Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, with FR. Scott Sunnenberg, pastor of St. Henry Catholic Church, and Rev. Larry Kirby, pastor of Abundant Grace Church in Bertrand, officiating.

Interment followed in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arin Swindle, Jacob Wilkerson, Keith Coots, Shawn Dugan, Jason Dugan, and Frankie Tubbs.
