Obituary

Mildred Elaine "Middy" Melrose, 82, a resident of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 205 at her son's home in Winfield. She was born Feb. 10, 1932 at Old Appleton to the late Andrew and Hannah (Oehl) Neislein. A resident of Sikeston since 1978, she was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's League. She worked for many years as a secretary for various companies in St. Louis. On June 20, 1953 she was married to George Phillip (Phil) Melrose in St. Louis and he preceded her in death July 22, 1998. She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Brian & Charlotte Melrose of Wright City and Craig & Sara Melrose of Winfield; one sister, Bernice Pingel of O'Fallon; and by 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Melrose on April 15, 2009 and by one brother and 3 sisters. Visitation will be from 11:00 am Monday until time for services at 1:00 pm at Concordia Lutheran Church with Rev. Alan J. Wollenburg, the pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral.com.
