MILDRED BROWN NICHOLSON, Age 93, a resident of Charleston, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Charleston Manor.
Born January 15, 1921, at Charleston, MO, to the late John W. and Ida Forsythe Brown, she had lived in Charleston most of her life where she was a member of the United Methodist Church and had been employed with the Bucker-Ragsdale Department Store and Clack's Central Food Store, until her retirement
On August 22, 1936, she married Samuel Albert Nicholson, who preceded her in death on June 9, 1997. She then married Ervin Everett Brokaw of Granite City, IL, and he preceded her in death October 13, 2012.
Surviving is one son in law, Benny Kirkpatrick of Galena, MO; one daughter in law, Eloise Nicholson of Walls, MS; one brother, Bill Brown of Charleston; five grandchildren, Andy Kirkpatrick of Austin, TX; Todd Kirkpatrick of Clearwater, FL; Mari Ann Moyers of Sikeston; David Kirkpatrick of Branson and Scott Nicholson of Grand Rapids, MI; 12 great grandchildren and several great great granchildren
In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Nicholson Kirkpatrick; her son, Sam Nicholson; and by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Her grandson in law, Michael Moyers, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. David Collum, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston. Her great granddaughter, Meredyth McKelvey, will offer a eulogy.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tripp Logan, Ryan Logan, Ivan Hess, Lee Hess, Clint Hess and Cooper McKelvey.
