Obituary

MILDRED PAULINE SCOTT, age 86, a resident of Charleston, formerly of Collinsville, IL, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Convalescent Center in Sikeston.

She was born May 31, 1929 in Hattieville, AR to the late James Arthur and Ollie May Tate Ray. Moving to Missouri as young child, she attended Morley School where she played High School Basketball. In 1952 she moved California and in 1963 she moved to Collinsville, IL where she lived until moving to Charleston in 1998. She was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church and in addition to her church she loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and working in her yard.

On Dec. 21, 1948 she married Troy Hayes Scott who preceded her in death on November 20, 2008.

She is survived by one son, Billy Bob (Ellen) Scott of Festus; one daughter, Kathy (Jerry) Meyer of Bertrand; one daughter in law, Mary Scott of Bluemont, VA; two brothers, Richard (Betty) Ray of Collinsville, IL, Ronald (Janice) Ray of Mission, TX; two sisters in law, Mary Grace Scott of Sikeston and Bobbye Francis Chambers of Charleston; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; dear friends and neighbors, Diane and Roger Cain and family; and a very special, loving caregiver, Sonya Carter.

She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Lee Scott, one grandson, Troy Scott Meyer, four brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at the McMikle Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Hour at 1:00 p.m. Jon Archie, pastor of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Clay Scott, Berry Hooper, Ronald Gnaegy, Drake Gnaegy, Roger Cain, Stacey Cain, and J. D. Scott.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Meyer, Kennedy Meyer, Kevin Chambers, Richard Forbey, Larry Troy Holt, and John Crowley.
