Obituary

MINDY JO O'GUIN, age 38, of East Prairie, died Friday, July 24, 2020, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 19, 1982, at Sikeston, MO, to William Davis "David" O'Guin and Kathy Lisa Gaddy O'Guin, who survive of East Prairie, she was a 2000 graduate of East Prairie High School and went on to graduate from Missouri State University in Springfield with a degree in criminal justice and was a member of the SAI Sorority.  Growing up in East Prairie, she later developed a love for the city of St. Louis where she made her home.  She joined the Missouri National Guard and was called to active duty two times, serving in Iraq and Kuwait.  She loved her family and spending time with her nephews and nieces, she enjoyed music and playing the trumpet, reading, swimming and spending time with her friends and military companions.  She especially loved her yorkie fur baby, Murray.

Surviving in addition to her mother and father are her brother, William (Jessica) O'Guin of Benton and her sister, Courtney (Patrick) Smith of East Prairie; her nephews and nieces, Declan O'Guin, Savannah Smith, Hailey Smith, Samuel Smith and Lucas Smith and her niece, Caitlyn Quinn Smith, to be born soon.

Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Eugene and Shirley Ann Ashley O'Guin and her maternal grandparents, Elmer and Earlene Allen Gaddy.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020, at the First Church of God in East Prairie. Dawn Walters, pastor, will officiate.

Private family burial with full military honors will be Friday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
