MODEST CHRISTINE GRIDER, age 96, a resident of Kuttawa, KY died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Caldwell Medical Center in Princeton, KY.

She was born January 31, 1914 to the late William and Dura Duty Nolen. She was a homemaker and a faithful Christian.

Surviving are one daughter, Sue Byers of Benton, KY; five sons, Billy Joe Grider of Hillsboro, John Grider, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH, Lee Edward Grider of Crestwood, KY, Larry Wayne Grider of Indianapolis, IN, and Charlie Franklin Grider of Dawson, KY; three sisters, Bernice Culp of East Prairie, Beatrice Doorak and Ruth Scott both of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Grider Sr.; 1 son; 4 sisters, and 6 brothers.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Collier Funeral Home, 211 W. 5th Street, Benton, KY.

Visitation will then be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston at 12:00 p.m. where Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rev. Calvin Wilkins of Benton, KY and Rev. Gerald Penn, Pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Simon Byers, Perry Byers, Shawn Byers, Keith Byers, Kevin Grider, Kyle Grider.

Honorary Pallbearer will be: Carson Grider.
