Obituary

Mozelle Nellie Mays Hager, age 98, died peacefully at her home in Sikeston, Monday, March 25, 2024.

Born September 2, 1925, at Red Oak, OK, to the late William Jesse Mays and Willie Clemmie Victoria Mize Mays, she was of Baptist belief and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served in many capacities.  She was a self-employed beautician for many years and assisted her husband with his construction business.  In 1981, she and her husband moved to Sikeston to be near family after having lived in Michigan and Florida.

On July 31, 1943, she married Theodore Lucian "Bud" Hager, Jr., who preceded her in death September 3, 2016.

Surviving are her special nieces and nephews, Sara Mays Turner, Frannie Turner, Dottie (Alex) Jackson, James Roe Jackson, Jamie (Melanie) Brewer, Molly Claire Mays, Heather (Rob) Young and Zeke Young; also, several other nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Otho Dee Mays, Bessie Lois Mays Perry, Wesley Herman Mays, Linnie Laverne Mays Adair, Terry Jesse "T.J." Mays, Rachel Independence Hulsey, Velma Fern Walker, Allen Herbert Mays and Carl Sherrell "Brownie" Mays.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.., Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
