Nadine Salyers, 89, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Center in Ashland, Ohio. She was born May 7, 1926 at Swift, Missouri to the late Sam and Nellie (Collins) Thaxtion. She had moved from Sikeston to Ohio 20 years ago and had been a nurse's aide at the Kingston Nursing Home. She was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston. She was married September 2, 1946 to Thomas E. Salyers in Wardell and he preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1993. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: 2 daughters, Sandra Salyers and Vela Elce; one brother, Eugene Thaxtion and 1 sister, Delores Fields. She is survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law: Larry & Sandy Salyers of Ashland, Ohio, Ronnie & Rena Salyers of Ashland and Danny Salyers of North Carolina; Two sisters, Geraldine Burns of Laurel, MS and Glenda Huffman of Pass Christian, MS. Thirteen Grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren also survive. Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 5 until 7 pm at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Murray Lane Baptist Church with Rev. Kelley Grubbs, the pastor officiating.
