NANCY ELLEN SMITH, age 87, a resident of Sikeston died at 5:54 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2008 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born October 9, 1920 in Bertrand to the late Fred H. and Ova Emma Delk Groves Sr.
She lived in Bertrand most of her life moving to Sikeston in 1983 where she was a member of the Shady Acres Church of Christ.

On December 28, 1942 she married Marlin Lee Smith who preceded her in death on December 10, 2003.

Surviving are one daughter and son in law, Sandra Lee and Tom Mock of Sikeston; two brothers and sisters in law, Edwin and Ruth Ann Groves and John B. and Jeanetta Groves all of Sikeston;
two grandchildren, Amanda Barnett Hunter and her husband Christian of New Madrid and Cindy Barnett Hornback and her husband Charles of Bradenton, FL; also five great grandchildren, Austin Hunter, Cole Hunter, and Lincoln Hunter all of New Madrid and Estella Hornback and Hayden Hornback both of Bradenton, FL.

Funeral Services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday August 13, 2008, in the McMikle Funeral Home with Pat Hogan, minister at Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, officiating.

Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Christian Hunter, Austin Hunter, Cole Hunter, Lincoln Hunter, Dale Mock, and Steven Mock.
