Nellie Jones

Martha Nell "Nellie" Jones, age 80, of Bertrand, died Monday, December 19, 2022, at the Bertrand Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born October 23, 1942, in Ballard County, MO, to the late Howard Jones and Susie Douglas Jones, and was among the first class to graduate from Ballard Memorial High School. Nellie had lived in Bertrand most of her life and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bertrand since 1966.

On August 14, 1964, she married James Alton "Jimmy" Jones, who preceded her in death on February 10, 2010.

Surviving are her sons, Donald (Lisa) Jones of Kennett and Darrell (Mary Jane) Jones of Bertrand; her sister, Mary (Clyde) Johnson of Bertrand; eleven grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Lynn Jones; grandson, Michael Brent Jones; one great grandson, Landon Beau Johnson; her brothers, L.M. "Buddy" Jones and Wayne Jones and her sister, Sue (Charles) Stewart.

Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Bertrand.  Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.  Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Swinney and Larry Miller.
