Obituary

NETTIE VERNELL BANKS, age 89, departed this life on Monday, September 14, 2020, at her home in Bertrand, MO, surrounded by family.

Born May 28, 1931, at Clinton, KY, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Bone and Mamie Lee Davis Bone. On October 11, 1951, at Piggott, AR, she married George Junior Banks, a life time farmer in Mississippi County, MO.   Throughout her early years of marriage, she worked diligently as a homemaker, raising her three children.   Nettie later worked over twenty years at the East Prairie Nutrition Center where she was a head cook.

Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, George Banks; her daughter, Cynthia Lou Walter; four brothers, Cecil, James, Marvin and Herman Bone and by two sisters, Alice Benton and Shirley Norman.

Survivors include her sister, Eveline Hendrix of Perryville, MO; her sons, David of Fairfax, VA and Keith of Charleston, MO; two daughters in law, Leslie Banks and Regina Banks; seven grandchildren, Carl and Bryce Walter; Sarah Johanson and Roger, Nathan, Jason and Trajen Banks; six great grandchildren, Abbey, Gentry, Allison, Arrielle, JJ and Tyler; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2020, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the East Prairie Memorial Park in East Prairie.   Melvin Sanarazo, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
