NEVA MAE BLUNT ODUM, age 93, of Sikeston, peacefully passed Monday, February 17, 2020, on to an eternal life with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family.
Born June 5, 1926, near Parma, MO, to the late Sylvester Blunt and Maggie Teachenor Blunt, she had lived in Sikeston a number of years where she had been employed with Barkett's Big Star, Sheehy's IGA and Sheehy's Food Giant until her retirement. She was loved by many and known for her famous cookies, creamy pies and delicious chicken and dumplings. She always had smile for everyone and will be greatly missed. She attended The Sanctuary United Pentecostal Church in Sikeston.
On June 1, 1946, she married Odell Odum, who preceded her in death on June 7, 2013.
Surviving are her daughters and sons in law, Sandra and Bobby Vaughn and Marcia and Ronald Sherrod; five grandchildren, Laurinda (Jim) Duncan, Kenneth (Debbie) Vaughn, Jackie (Frank Sevic) Tollison, Joe (Deanna) Sherrod, Jessica (Billy) Sherrod; nine great grandchildren, Logan Tollison; Chandler, Cambrie and Caden Duncan; Morgan and Tucker Sherrod; Avery Krauss, Jayce Robles; Daelyn McIntyre; and many other friends and loved ones.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence Blunt, Dwight Blunt, Glenn Blunt, Roy Blunt, Marvin Blunt and Ray Blunt.
Visitation will be after 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February, 19, 2020, at the Sanctuary United Pentecostal Church, 338 Matthews Street, Sikeston, MO. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the church. The Rev. Jay Teague will officiate, assisted by Rev. Jim Abner.
Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Vaughn, Joe Sherrod, Jim Duncan, Chandler Duncan, Jayce Robles, Tucker Sherrod and Frank Sevic.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Farrell Wilson, Mike Dillard, Bill Britton, Doyle Hutton, Bill James and James Adams.
