NORMA JEAN SHOWMAKER, Age 61, a resident of Anna, IL, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born September 28, 1951, at Chicago, IL, to Betty Schmidt Waldt, who survives of Bel- Air, Florida, and the late Norman Ellugh, she had lived in East Cape, IL a number of years prior to moving to Anna. She had been employed with Schnucks in Cape Girardeau and then with the State of Illinois Tourism Department as a Tour Guide until ill health forced her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.
On February 12, 1972, she married Edward J. Showmaker, who survives of the home at Anna.
Also surviving are: three sons, Timothy Michael Showmaker of McClure, IL; Mathew Todd Showmaker of Oak Ridge, MO and Daniel Raymond Showmaker of Ullin, IL; one daughter, Jeanna Marie Muskof of Fayetteville, IL; one sister, Barbara Bardell of Largo, FL; also six grandchildren.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Edward Showmaker and one brother Lawrence Ellugh.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2013 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. Monsignor Richard Rolwing of Cape Girardeau, will serve as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
