NORMAN JOSEPH CYR, age 78, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at his home in Dogwood, MO.
Norman was born May 30, 1944, at Cambridge, MA, to the late Claude Cyr and Germaine Hebert Cyr. Norman served in the U.S. Air Force as a fireman and after his honorable discharge, he continued the rest of his life to serve in the various communities where they resided as a volunteer fireman. For many years he worked as an electrician at Buckeye Cellulose and then became a supervisor for numerous rice mills. He loved model railroading and especially the work as a volunteer fireman. He and his wife, Betty, lived in many places around the United States before settling in the Dogwood Community of Mississippi County, Missouri a few years ago.
On October 2, 1965, he married Betty Louise Whitener, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his children, Carla and husband, Warren; Cindy; and Carl and his wife, Amanda; four grandchildren; two great grandsons. These little ones always made him smile.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his siblings, Roger Cyr, Robert Cyr and Claudette (William) Keich.
Friends may assemble for graveside services with full military honors at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2022, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
