Odell Odum, 89, of Sikeston died Friday June 7, 2013 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Nov. 16, 1923 at Hornersville, MO to the late Joseph Charley and Beulah Lee (McCain) Odum. A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II he had been employed by Sikeston Public Schools as a custodian and bus driver. A resident of Sikeston since 1960 he had previously lived in the Gray Ridge & Essex area. He was a member and Honorary Trustee of Christian Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church. He was united in marriage to Neva Mae Blunt June 1, 1946 at Dexter and she survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra & Bobby Vaughn of Sikeston and Marcia & Ronald Sherrod of Sikeston. Five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers Thelbert Odum and J.R. Odum. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 pm Monday, June 10 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday June 11 in the chapel with Rev. E.J. McDougall, pastor of Christian Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Vaughn, Jim Duncan, Paul Tollison, Joe Sherrod, Darrin McIntyre and Dallas Sherrod.
