Obituary

OMA LEE EMORY KING, Age 94, a resident of East Prairie, died Monday, January 17, 2011, at the East Prairie Nursing Center in East Prairie.

Born January 14, 1917, in Mississippi County, MO to the late Charles M. and Maggie Elizabeth McElmurry Emory, she had lived in Mississippi County most of her life. After graduating from the East Prairie High School, she was employed at the East Prairie Post Office as a clerk. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Prairie.

On September 24, 1955, she married Eugene King, who preceded her in death March 11, 1964.

Surviving are five nephews including Jack Emory of East Prairie, and six nieces including Marilyn Glenn of Charleston and Pam Williams of East Prairie; also many great and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, James Lucious Emory, Charles Dewey Emory and Ira Cade Emory and by six sisters, Callie Ann Greer, Mabel Bryan, Amy Knupp, Eunice Schneider and Margaret Schneider.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Ted Wimberley, pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate. George White of East Prairie, will offer a eulogy.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Kevin Glenn, Scott Glenn, Mark Poore, Frank Bourland, J.W. Grogan and James Haines.
