Obituary

OPAL L. HAHN, age 81, a resident of Charleston, died Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born February 15, 1938, in the Dogwood Community of Mississippi County, MO, to the late Jess Dalton Douglas and Dovie Jane Woods Douglas.  She had lived in Charleston the several years and was employed for over 18 years at the Mississippi County Detention Center until her retirement. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston where she was an active member of all ministries. Opal volunteered countless hours in the community and was always quick to help those in need. One of her greatest joys was assisting the Mississippi County Rescue squad with their annual Cheeseburger Day each October.

She was first married to Vernon Freeland who preceded her in death. On January 3, 1998, she married Moran Hahn, Jr., who survives of the home.

Also surviving is her brother, Vernon Douglas of Charleston; her sister, Hettie Rodgers, of Lilbourn; her God Son and his family, Danny and Linda Harris and sons, Hunter and Caleb; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nettie Cavner, Imogene Martin and Gladys Simmons.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston. Pastor David McLucas and Rev. Gerald Penn will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Keith Bickford, Gerald Douglas, Allen Douglas, Hunter Harris, Steve Martin and Richard Griffen.
