OPAL HESS WILLIAMS, Age 92, a resident of Wyatt, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Charleston Manor.
Born October 9, 1921, at Caddo Gap, Arkansas, to the late A.C. "Cleve" and Lydia Williams Hess, she had lived in Mississippi County most of her life where she was a member of the Wyatt Baptist Church. A member of the Charleston Country Club, she was an avid golfer and a member of the Ladies Golf Association. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had done volunteer work at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston and also with the Mississippi County Library.
On February 22, 1943, she married Donald Frederick Williams who preceded her in death August 18, 2013.
Surviving are two sons and daughter in law, Dr. Fred and Sandra Williams of Fort Myers, FL and David and Debbie Williams of Charleston; one sister, Wilda DeField of Perryville; grandchildren, Ashleigh Williams, of Houma, LA; Elliott (Carrie) Williams of Cape Girardeau; Travis (Jennifer) Williams of rural Charleston; Andy (Michelle) Williams of Dallas, TX and Sherri (Eddie) Spraberry of Fort Collins, CO; great grandchildren, Eli and Ashton Williams of Cape Girardeau; Layton Williams and Shelby Buttery of Charleston; Lollie Schawb of Lafayette, LA; J. Hunter Schawb of Houma, LA, Madison Williams and Morgan Williams both of Dallas, TX; and Blake Spraberry, Austin Spraberry, Andrew Spraberry and Brandon Spraberry all of Fort Collins, CO.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Bruce Hess, Clarence Hess, Leroy Hess, Eugene Hess and Tommy Hess and by two sisters, Mary Ellen Jones and Marjorie Suedan.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the Wyatt Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Jarryd Smith, Lee Hess, Ivan Hess, Clint Hess, Andy Hess, Jr. and Andrew French.
