Orville "Bill" Hupp, 95, a resident of this area most of his life, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at his home in Sikeston. He was born Oct. 9, 1924 in Essex to the late Lewis A. and Elizabeth (Smith) Hupp.
Bill had been an elevator worker at Scott County Milling Co. until he was injured in an explosion in 1967. He later was a route salesman for Tom's Peanuts; and then later for Foremost Dairy and Turner Dairy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a Seaman First Class in the Seabees during World War II. He was a Charter member of North Acres General Baptist Church.
On Dec. 30, 1944 he was married to Avis B. Barber in Piggott, Arkansas and she survives of the home in Sikeston. He is also survived by 2 sons and three daughters-in-law: Donald D. & Julie Hupp of Benton; Terry L. & Brenda Hupp of Middleburg, Florida; and Sandra Hupp of Sikeston. Five grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 17 greatgrandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson also survive. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Billy Charles Hupp, 10 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 2, at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 10:00 am until time for services at 1:00 pm. Rev. Dale McFarland, pastor of Gray Ridge General Baptist Church will officiate and burial with full military honors will follow at 3:00 pm at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
