OSCAR CALVIN FARMER, age 84, of East Prairie, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at his home.
Born January 7, 1935, at Bassett, Arkansas, to the late Carl Edward Farmer and Stella Beatrice Allen Farmer, he was a 1953 graduate of Sikeston High School. Having lived in Memphis, TN, most of his life, he was a member of the IBW No. 474. He had worked as professional master electrician until his retirement. After retirement, he lived in Water Valley, MS a number of years before returning to Mississippi County. He was of the Church of God belief.
He was first married to Shirley M. Oliphant who preceded him in death. He then married Freda Leech Lay, who also preceded him in death. He then married Dorothy Louise Tanksley Zook and she survives of the home.
Also surviving are his son, Van Alvin Farmer of Bertrand; his daughters, Renee Hayden of Charleston; Martha Carter of California, Vickie Musto of Memphis, TN, Twila Worlock of Seattle, WA and Leecie Butler of Memphis, TN; one brother, Donald (Arlene) Butler of Talladega, AL; 15 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by one son, Roy Dwayne Farmer and his daughter in law, Sandra Eskew Farmer.
Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Thomas Smotherman of East Prairie, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
