OSCAR RAYMOND GARRETT SR., age 79, died Wednesday, January 22, 2019 at his residence in Charleston.

He was born August 29, 1939 in Perkins to Oscar Tyron and Bertha Myrtle Gross Garrett. He had lived in Scott and Mississippi Counties most of his life and worked for Bunny Bread Company in Cape Girardeau and Sikeston before retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Sikeston Bowling League for several years and also, enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was first married to Paula Gaye Toney who preceded him in death after 51 years of marriage. On June 9, 2011 he married Mary Inez Bradley who survives of the home.

Survivors include four sons, Oscar Raymond (Gloria) Garrett Jr. of Santa Clarita, CA, James William Garrett of VanDuser, Robert Raymond Garrett of Largo, FL, and William Joseph Garrett of Caruthersville; four daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Donald) Woodby of St. Petersburg, FL, Patricia Lynn Garrett and Carey Storm Pavon of Sikeston, and Mary Rebecca Barnett of Parma; three brothers, Jesse Garrett of St. Louis, Georgie Garrett of Rockford, IL, Sam Garrett of Cape Girardeau; Emma Slemings of Boonville, MS, Margie Rynor of Woodstock, VA and Shirley Forester of Paragould, AR; 26 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Howard David Garrett; two daughters, Sarah Ann Davis and Myrtle Diane Garrett; one grandson, Brian Jacob Towe; one great grandson, Noah Brock Barnett; and one great granddaughter, Zara Garrett.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date.
