Paul Eugene Green

Jun 1, 1949 — Jun 29, 2026

Charleston, Missouri

Paul Eugene Green (Big Daddy), 77, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Cape Girardeau, MO, surrounded by loved ones.

Paul was born in Greenfield, Ohio on June 1, 1949, to Edward and Nancy Collette Green. However, he lived most of his childhood in Aurora, IN. He attended Aurora High School where he was an exemplary, multi-sport student athlete, lettered in four sports. This is also where he met the love of his life, Karyn Sue McCarty, who became his wife on August 23, 1969.

Paul majored in Mathematics at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN, where he and Karyn started their family. If you were to ask him, he’d say that is where his legacy began.

Paul was a brilliant man who succeeded at most anything he attempted. He was dedicated to many hobbies: fishing, bowling, softball, landscaping to name a few. Later in life, Paul was a passionate FSU fan, an avid golfer, but most notably he was a dedicated family man. He often said he may never be rich by the world’s standards, but he was rich in life because of his family. He was exceptionally proud of his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. He was always primed with a story relating to their latest accomplishment or a slightly embarrassing one about their latest shenanigans. His favorite fun fact was that he gave all his grands and great-grands their first ever bite of soft-serve ice cream. Ice cream and Big Daddy went hand in hand!

He teemed with stories after years of being a Florida State season ticket holder during the Bobby Bowden era. He could be found in the stands rain or shine. He was not a fair-weather fan. During his lifetime, he shared this passion with his family whether it be football, basketball, baseball, or the Flying High Circus. He was extremely proud to have fostered a family full of FSU alumni.

In retirement, Paul could be found on the golf course at least four times a week. He was truly an anomaly, the older and stiffer he got, the better he played. Golfing was a family affair: our memories are filled with trick shots, crazy driving (the cart that is), lots of laughs, and of course, the occasional mulligan.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Karyn, whom he loved dearly, his parents, Ed and Nancy Green, and his sister Pam Feezle.

He is survived by his: daughter Kelly (Milton) Harrington of Charleston, MO; son Aaron (Janellen) Green of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Sarah (Sheryl Ann) Curles of Jackson, MO; McCarty Green of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; two great-grandchildren, Cannon & Emillie Curles of Jackson, MO. Other survivors included his: adored, younger sisters Brenda (Robert) Walton of Aurora, IN; Tammy (Terry) Wiegand of Osgood, IN; brother-in-law William (Noelle) McCarty of Glendale, AZ; and a plethora of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
